IT'S THE LITTLE THINGS

She always drank her coffee from a teacup
She never liked to fly so we'd take a train
She had an old Hank Williams record
And she played it all the time
I'd love to hear her sing again

She was born in Louisiana
She spoke a little French
Long hair and the big eyes of a child
And she's take all my expressions
And she'd turn them inside out
Now I say them her way all the time

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain

Just last week the old gang got together
The sound of her name brought back the memories
Of how she watched the world with her pretty head
Turned a little to the side
I wonder if she thinks of me

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain

We were young and crazy
Made some big mistakes
But the best of times stay in mind
Without those old heartaches

It's the little things that everyone remembers
Like a three-chord song that everybody plays
And every time I think about the greatest love I've known
It's the little things that remain
It's the little things that remain
